Why import past emails
When you connect an email account, Klovis only sees mail from that moment on. Importing past emails brings in the conversations you already had, so every person's page shows the full history and an AI agent can learn from it.
Nothing is sent during an import. It only reads.
Start an import
- Go to Settings > Profile > My sending accounts and open the email account. Admins can also do this from Settings > Senders.
- Under Past emails, choose how far back to go: all time, 2 years, 1 year or 90 days.
- Click Import past emails.
Progress shows on the same page: how many emails have been imported and how far back the import has reached. You can cancel at any time. Emails already imported stay.
A large mailbox takes minutes, not hours. The import reads in pages and slows down if the mail provider asks it to.
What appears where
- Conversations with people who are in Klovis appear on their pages and in the inbox at their original dates.
- Conversations with nobody in Klovis follow your inbox setting for Email under Settings > Inbox > Channels: with Show people not in Klovis off, they stay out of the inbox and its counts, so old newsletters and personal mail do not fill it. An AI agent can read them either way.
- When you add a person later, their past conversations link to them and appear on their page and in the inbox.
- Spam, deleted mail and drafts are skipped.
- Imported mail is stored as already read and never counts as a new reply, so it does not pause a campaign or start a workflow.
Run it again
You can import again later, for example after adding people to Klovis. Emails already stored are recognised and skipped.
