Where to start
Go to People, then click Import. If your People list is empty, you can also click Import CSV from the empty state.
Step 1: Upload your file
- Choose your CSV file.
- Optionally pick a list to add the imported people to, or create a new list.
- Choose what happens when a row matches someone already in Klovis:
- Update them – fills in empty fields and overwrites existing ones.
- Skip them – only new people are imported; existing records are left alone.
- Optionally turn on Auto-create & link company records to find or create a matching company record for each person.
Step 2: Map your columns
For each column in your file, choose which Klovis field it should fill in. Hover over a column to see a preview of its values on the right. Any column you leave unmapped is skipped.
Step 3: Review your values
Before you import, Klovis shows you the distinct values in each mapped column so you can check they look right. Columns with blank cells are flagged so you can see them before you commit.
Step 4: Start the import
A summary shows how many fields are mapped, your duplicate handling choice, and whether company records will be created. Click Start import. Klovis processes the file in the background, and you can track its progress from Settings > Import history.
How matching works
Klovis matches an imported row to an existing person by email address or LinkedIn URL only. Names and phone numbers are never used to decide that a row is the same person as an existing record.
What happens with duplicates
- Duplicates within your file: if two or more rows in the same file share the same email or LinkedIn URL, they are treated as duplicates and are not all imported.
- Duplicates against existing people: if a row matches someone already in Klovis by email or LinkedIn URL, it follows the choice you made in step 1: Update fills in empty fields and overwrites existing ones on that record, and Skip leaves the existing record untouched and imports only genuinely new people.
The review step
Step 3, Review, lets you check how your columns' values will be imported before anything is written. Use it to catch a wrongly mapped column or a column with a lot of blank values before you start the import.
